Subway and Bus Strike... But New Yorkers Push On

It is such a funny little situation here in New York. I have always seen it as a university campus for adults with little yellow cars that drive you around... and a little train system that takes us around... All on this island. Even the local television stations.. they all report what happened on the island that day. For example, at the moment, the MTA (subway and bus workers) are on strike. So New Yorkers all tune into the local channel the night before and plan what they are going to do the next day. Everyone on the island is talking about it and it effects us all. So, its a pretty bad situation but these people just swing into gear and make a plan. Some walked, a lot of people got taxis with complete strangers and a lot of people drove into work and picked up people on the way... complete strangers again. As I look out my window now at 8:46pm there are still a lot of people walking up the street but they are soldiering on.

I guess this city has been through a lot in the last few years and just know how to cope.
