People Used To Be Famous Because They Were A Celebrity
Now they are a celebrity because they famous.
Celebrity used to mean you did something worthy of being famous. A celebrity could captivate a stadium of 10,000 people. A celebrity could sit down in front of a typewriter/computer and write something that captured the hearts and minds of millions. A celebrity could stand in front of a camera everynight on television and make millions laugh. Do most of the people featured in gossip mags today have that ability ?
Now to the people who cover these celebs..
Its definitely an interesting time in "news". Celebrity gossip in particular. First of all gossip has somehow become news. "Sources" have somehow become more than enough to base a whole cover or news story on... and there is no higher power overseeing it all so the kids/editors/bloggers get to put out shocking covers and a lot of people take it as fact.
Here is the most interesting thing to me.. A lot of the people "covering" celebrities are actually trying to be celebrities themselves.
I guess they see by reporting gossip and showing stolen photos will somehow get them the platform they need to catapult themselves into the spotlight. Most celeb blogs are now becoming half news and half a promotion/cause tool for the blogger.
The sad thing about it all, is that not many people are calling these people out. The people who could probably know that most of these bloggers were unemployed when they started these blogs and will go to any lengths to get into a bitch fight with someone popluar because they know it elevates their celeb stock. So now we are seeing bloggers try to get their own tv shows and use their blog to promote the hell out of themselves. They are in an envious position because a lot of them have nothing to lose so they will pick fights, grab attention etc etc all because it is 5000 times better than we they were when they started the blog. Trust me, no one goes from a happy place in their life to trashing people on the web. Its a way out of a sad existence... hating on the people you wish you could be.
